Our teachers are highly experienced and certified by the Department of Early Education and Care. They are committed to the children and the families of Wee Friends Preschool and are dedicated to creating an excellent pre-kindergarten experience for all. The teachers create and sustain a caring and respectful community that supports the growth and development of each child. Parents are welcome to visit at all times. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone field trips and hold positions on the executive board.
The Nursery School class meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30. The focus of the nursery program is on social and emotional development. Most of the children in this class have never been to school before. They need to learn about getting along with other children and adults, to share and express their emotions, and to handle frustrations in socially acceptable ways. We encourage nursery class students to participate in classroom activities at their own level. There are two teachers in the nursery school classroom and the class size is between 12 and 16 children.
The Preschool class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00-11:30. In our preschool program we focus on the intellectual development of your child. Through circle time, games and classroom activities, we introduce number concepts, letter recognition, phonics, name writing, cutting, and other kindergarten readiness skills. We continue to focus on social/emotional development as well. There are two teachers in the preschool classroom and the class size is between 14 and 18 children.
